Writing sample #1
Kabir Kapadia
The West was exuberant in December 1991, as the
Soviet Union collapsed. The Soviet Union was constructed on the same land as
the Russian Empire. The government of the Soviet Union was following socialism
then slowly moved to the ideology of communism. Soviets then realized that more
than half of the country did not want to stay under the control of the soviets.
The collapse of the Soviet Union started on the fringe of the country. The
disintegration of the Soviet Union turned into the world which still continues
in the present day. The countries are technically free now but still tied in
with military or other economies.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, fifteen new countries emerged. But some of those
and other countries are left to rebuild their economy and government into a new
society.
